Enjoy the bulge today, folks!

I want to talk about a narrow miss I had last night on the train--well, not me as such, but the whole train and everyone in it. You see, sometimes when I travel home I am lucky enough to catch the express train which misses half the stops and gets me home about 20 minutes quicker. Always a good thing. Unfortunately, because it was an express train, it is travelling very fast. This meant that when a drunken fool decided to ignore the boom gates signals, lights, and warnings and walk into the path of the oncoming train, the driver slammed on the brakes!

Everyone in the train was sent hurling, myself included. Thankfully, I wasn't in a seat with another one in front of me, so I wasn't hurt when the train stopped suddenly. The train driver apologised over the PA system and then proceeded to hurl abuse at the drunken man who was still wandering the tracks even after all the beeping of horns to get out of the way!

Suffice it to say...finally, the man got off the tracks when a couple of good citizens 'helped' him. He was that pickled I don't think he would have known shit from clay. Anyway, thank the Lord above the train driver didn't hit him and we all got home. I spoke to the driver afterwards (at the terminus station) and congratulated her for stopping in time and not hitting the man. She told me it was more and more common these days, but such a thing didn't help her blood pressure.

I wouldn't be a train driver for all the tea in China!
