Here's from, the news:
Nine thousand people have marched in this year's Sydney Pride parade, the largest in Australia. Hundreds of thousands lined the street to cheer them on. This year's theme was "History of the World" and scores of dancers were dressed as famous identities from the pages of history. Being the 32nd annual parade, it had taken on a specifically political flavour this year after same sex marriage legislation was voted down in the Senate yesterday...But the mood has not been da... ...I hear the same thing, over and over.
I don't mean to sound all high and mighty, because I am far from it. But let's get it clear for all of you budding authors out there. Plot is IMPORTANT. Plot is the foundation of a novel/story. Plot is what the words can cling to as you build your prose. Without plot there is nothing. NOTHING. I cannot stand reading books with no plot. No plot=no character development. No plot=no story. No plot=why bother?
Even if the plot is a simple one (and sometimes ... Continue reading ...
I have a new saying. "dick goes numb." I think it can be used to describe all sorts of situations. Ones where you think, oh dear God, I've so seen everything the only thing left is for my genitals to get pins and needles to make the experience something out of the ordinary and for me to actually notice or give two hoots.
I work in the post office. Suffice it to say, my dick goes numb many times over the course of the day. Please, people, if you are going to get a parcel from overseas DO NOT ge... Continue reading ...
Buying an eReader is, I have to say with all honesty, the best thing I have ever done. Not only does it make reading books easy, it makes reading sexy, too! There I said it! Reading a book with an eReader is damn sexy. When I finish an eBook I can sit back, relax, grab a pizza and (here's the best bit) I don't have to tell it I love it. Although *whispers* I do.
The down side. I catch the train to work and back each day. I am used to sitting by myself, minding my own business. Once I get my eR... Continue reading ...

You all know that a boy needs his toys. Well, I just got me a brand spanking new eReader! It's the iRiver "Story" and it's just so damn sexy I fell in love with it straight away. Even the cover is sex in cream coloured plastic! YUM!
Why did I buy this instead of the Kindle or the Sony eReader?
Well, I have to say here I knew more about eReaders than the sales guy! In the end he was asking me questions. Do you know how good that feels? LOL Anyway, I digress.
I bought this particular eReader beca... Continue reading ...
Okay, as some of you know, I had/still have DVT (deep Vein Thrombosis) and now that I am out of the woods as far as being in danger, I can share with you a funny story. Now, in no way am I making light of a serious medical condition, but at the same time, I did experience something quite amusing while I was being prodded and poked at the hospital.
First, I complained of a pain in my calf. I thought I had pulled a muscle or something and for a week didn't worry about it (suffered in silence in ... Continue reading ...

competition
With the release of Shadows of the Mind, part one of the Pembroke Eve Chronicles on the 15th of Feb, I will be running a competition.
Although, this one will be a little different, because normally my competitions go down like a platter of suckling pig at a Jewish Convention...so...what's this all going to be about then?
Simply stay tuned for now.
I will say that it won't involve commenting or doing a jig naked at the next full Moon and that the prize will be a copy of my award winning and bes... Continue reading ...
...with my toaster!
You know, how hard is it to actually buy a toaster that does what it's supposed to (like toast bread constantly and evenly) and not break/fail to toast one side/burn everything/just warm the bread? I mean really. I've bought expensive toasters, cheap toasters, middle of the road toasters. I've even bought different brands, too. And yet, not one....not one can perform the SIMPLE task of toasting bread every morning for more than a few months.
It's so frustrating I've even st... Continue reading ...
Sorry I haven't blogged in a while, but I have been deep in the mire of my writing, where my muse has been telling me my words are wonderful one minute and crap the next. Oh well, I've planted down just over 20,000 words in a week. At this rate I'll pretty much have the first draft of Time of the Soul finished by the end of the week...I hope. That way I'll have three books written for the series before Shadows of the Mind is released on the 15th of Feb!
Just where I want to be.
So...the purpos... Continue reading ...

Over there at MANtastic, the book of the week this week is one of mine, The Pauper's Prize! I am so thrilled to see it up there, open for discussion and getting a bit of the spot light. So comments and thoughts are welcome!
Here's the lovely write up about The Pauper's Prize and something more about my writing, too.
Winning 2nd place in the Fantasy category at 2009 Rainbow Awards, The Pauper’s Prize is a classic tale set within a time of Lords and Ladies and with many intriguing twists.

This post is gonna sound all intellectual like, because I caught a doco on the telly last night that got me thinking. I know...dangerous, isn't it? Me thinking. It really does hurt...unless I'm thinking about chocolate...then it's all good.
Anyway. This doco was on "Time" and based around the simple question: "What time is it?" Sure, seems simple to answer, doesn't it? It's 10.55 in the morning of Monday the 1st of Feb as I write this...2010 even!
And that's the problem. That's how I perceive ... Continue reading ...

About Me
My name is Mark Alders. I live in a house. This house has a street in front of it which is a good thing because if it didn't I wouldn't be able to drive down to the shop and purchase the chocolate I need on a daily basis *giggle*
Seriously, I am a mild mannered post office worker by day and an erotic romance writer (mainly male/male) at night. Not much else to say other than, like everyone else, I have bills to pay, a mortgage and family that I love and drive me crazy all at the same time. Oh, and I have a dog, too!
See?
Average Joe...except when I get down and write...then I let my imagination go to places I never knew existed and my characters invade my mind.
