My New Toy

You all know that a boy needs his toys. Well, I just got me a brand spanking new eReader! It's the iRiver "Story" and it's just so damn sexy I fell in love with it straight away. Even the cover is sex in cream coloured plastic! YUM!
Why did I buy this instead of the Kindle or the Sony eReader?
Well, I have to say here I knew more about eReaders than the sales guy! In the end he was asking me questions. Do you know how good that feels? LOL Anyway, I digress.
I bought this particular eReader because, and this is a big one. I am not stuck buying my eBooks from one source (I'm looking at you Kindle) I can download my own PDF files, DOC files, anything. I can even download into the Story files I am working on and proof read them while on the train so I don't have to lug around paper! A real bonus for me who doesn't get a lot of time to write and edit and proof read without having to print stuff out.
Also, it's simple, easy to use and navigate and has a battery life of about 9000 page turns. Which means I don't have to charge the thing every two seconds like my acursed mobile phone. It opens like a book, feels nice to touch and, above all, is easy on the eyes.
It's also fully SD card compatible, so I can expand my library at any time. The Story stores 1500 books anyway, but if I want more. No worries. Not like the *cough* kindle.
The only downside I can see is the page turn/refresh time. It's like half a second, and even though doesn't distract from the reading experience, will take a bit of getting used to seeing as I have been a dead tree kind of reader up until this point. Then again, pretty much all electronic eReaders suffer from this...so there you go.
Also, I got it for a good price. Catalogue special! Yayyy! So cost me less than the 'ereader that shall not be named from now on' and I got it instantly, too. Didn't have to wait for shipping.
Here's a nice little article on the Story...Now I'm off to play a bit more with my new toy...I mean, read :-)
