Gee, things have been busy for me lately. Not only do I have my latest wip to complete before Saturday this week, but I'm now back at work, too! The reason I have to get this draft finished before the weekend is simple. I have visitors coming from interstate.
That means, while they are here (2 weeks) I won't get any writing done, and with deadlines looming, the pressure is on. It's okay to lock yourself in your study during normal circumstances and write to your hearts content, the family understand, but not when company is about. It's rude and quite frankly anyone not really close to you simply don't understand what it takes to be a writer.
They don't realise that you have to be isolated from everyone, immersed in your own world as you plant down the words needed to weave your story. I just know that if I do try and sneak in some writing time, they'll be hovering over me, asking questions and trying to sound interested in what I'm doing.
Argh! Oh well. If I can get my latest WIP finished by Saturday, that will give me some time, an ace up my sleeve before the first book of the series, Shadows of the Mind, is released on the 15th of Feb. I go on work holidays in Feb, so if--and it's a big IF--I can get book three mostly done too before that date I will be extremely happy.
I am Mark Alders, writer, intactivist, post office worker, and all round nice guy...except when someone steals my chocolate! I am a proud Australian, and as such use different spellings and have some weird phrases, too. Hey, perhaps that's why I write some damn weird shit!
I can't change who I am.
So when you read one of my books, enjoy the ride, but please don't say I can't spell. I spell how I damn well feel like it! LOL Naw seriously, I spell like an Aussie...do forgive me because we are a breed unto ourselves. Where else can a place have 11 registered public holidays and no one has any idea what they are for except to have a BBQ and down some beers!
If you do find a genuine error in my work, please let me know so I can speak with my editor...also, as an addition to that, offer chocolates as well. Lots of chocolates.
*hugs*
Mark
