Under: news
Well, for those of you who didn't know (and I think I shouted it out so loud from every roof top the neighbours thought I was insane LOL) I won NaNo this year!! That gives me two wins in three years now...
The book, The Nourisher, took over and virtually wrote itself. I think I notched up nearly 5000 words in one day at one stage. Very rare for me! I am pleased with the overall story arc, and yes, there will be sequels, the characters demanded it!
Anyway...what now? Well, I have sent said novel to a beta reader. I know it may be a little soon for such a thing, I don't normally like to send my stuff to anyone until at least the second draft. BUT there is a method to my madness. You see, I want to enter this particular book into the Ravenous Romance NaNo Novel competition, a prize that means publication at that house! (I blogged about this competition previously and have decided to go for it) Gotta be in it to win it :-)
I have about a couple of weeks to get this novel up to a standard I'm going to have to be happy with--then again, what author is ever truly happy with their work? I know I'm not.
So fingers crossed and wish me luck. I will let you all know what happens.
I am Mark Alders, writer, intactivist, post office worker, and all round nice guy...except when someone steals my chocolate! I am a proud Australian, and as such use different spellings and have some weird phrases, too. Hey, perhaps that's why I write some damn weird shit!
I can't change who I am.
So when you read one of my books, enjoy the ride, but please don't say I can't spell. I spell how I damn well feel like it! LOL Naw seriously, I spell like an Aussie...do forgive me because we are a breed unto ourselves. Where else can a place have 11 registered public holidays and no one has any idea what they are for except to have a BBQ and down some beers!
If you do find a genuine error in my work, please let me know so I can speak with my editor...also, as an addition to that, offer chocolates as well. Lots of chocolates.
*hugs*
Mark
