Under: Thoughts on Writing
...I hear the same thing, over and over.
I don't mean to sound all high and mighty, because I am far from it. But let's get it clear for all of you budding authors out there. Plot is IMPORTANT. Plot is the foundation of a novel/story. Plot is what the words can cling to as you build your prose. Without plot there is nothing. NOTHING. I cannot stand reading books with no plot. No plot=no character development. No plot=no story. No plot=why bother?
Even if the plot is a simple one (and sometimes simple plots can be very effective) like two people wanting to find each other, at least it's a plot! A plot is not sex scene after sex scene with no rhyme or reason other than to titillate. But guess what? If you do write 'one-handed' novels, the shine soon wears off and readers soon become bored and turned off by such prose.
No plot=porn...and porn is only good for keeping under the bed or hidden away deep in the recesses of your computer....
My name is Mark Alders. I live in a house. This house has a street in front of it which is a good thing because if it didn't I wouldn't be able to drive down to the shop and purchase the chocolate I need on a daily basis *giggle*
Seriously, I am a mild mannered post office worker by day and an erotic romance writer (mainly male/male) at night. Not much else to say other than, like everyone else, I have bills to pay, a mortgage and family that I love and drive me crazy all at the same time. Oh, and I have a dog, too!
See?
Average Joe...except when I get down and write...then I let my imagination go to places I never knew existed and my characters invade my mind.
