Synopsis:
Shadows of the Mind focuses on Jacob Theison, a young man who thinks he’s better than all the other folk who live in the picturesque town of Pembroke Eve. It’s no place for a modern guy and he wants to leave, try his luck on the greener pastures of ‘anywhere’ else.

He parted and the taste of him lingered in my mouth for a long time after. I yearned for his contact again immediately, and wanted to kiss him again. I smoothed my hand across his chest. Book Two: Light of the Body

Jacob finally insists they investigate the reason for the dog barking and a strange man confronts them as they venture into their backyard. The events that follow are completely weird to say the least, even for Pembroke Eve standards. The man bites Callum in the scuffle that follows, and as Jacob soon finds out, that bite is a transference.
Callum is now pregnant!
In fact, the whole town have been infected, with half acting like living zombies and the other half in the hospital in the same condition as Callum. What is causing this outbreak? Only Jacob and his friends, Zane and Mr. Barnaby seem to be unaffected. But they need to find Suzy. She's missing and the townsfolk that are the living zombies have been saying: "Suzy the right one."
What is she the right one for? And what's more, are these events all connected?
This time the townsfolk are celebrating the Spring Dance. An event that will hopefully kick away the worries of past incidents in the town. Although, even an occasion such as the Spring Dance can't remain uneventful for long, especially because this is Pembroke Eve, after all.
Unfortunately, for Jacob things are about to get really weird as a pan-dimensional being whisks him away just as Corey Harrington decides to make a scene at the dance and start throwing punches. The being, who also happens to fall in love with Jacob, shows him a different past, a possible present and a future he must choose. But the consequences of the being's love is more than Jacob can handle or allow to happen. He will lose all of his friends and a life he thought he had if he accepts the being.
Something he knows cannot possibly happen.
Jacob is alone, without Callum or Zane or Suzy this time. Even Mr. Barnaby and his strange friend can't really help in the alternate reality the being has created to woo Jacob into his web. In the end, Jacob must resort to making a deal with the devil--his arch enemy Corey Harrington--and use all of his wits to make sure his life is as it should be before the being discovers his plan and decides that Jacob no longer deserves his affection...or his life.
What happens when a gateway opens to the dragon realm right in the main street of Pembroke Eve? And where is Mr. Barnaby's special friend. Surely the two events are connected. But how?
Jacob and the gang race against time to try and solve the mystery and seal the gateway before Pembroke Eve is taken over by creatures far worse than anything anyone has ever imagined.
